    Enchantment Stones

    • Implemented (most) Costume Enchantment Stones.
      • Developer's Note: Enchantment Stones are enchantment-like upgrades, which can be slotted like cards into costumes. With this update, most of the currently existing Enchantment Stones, including base stats, class sets and more are available.
      • Most of them can be obtained through regular mob drops in various fields and dungeons. Stronger Enchantment Stones can be crafted by using the ones obtained through mob drops and other items, with Judd (main_office,199,269). All Enchantment Stones are account-bound.
      • Enchantment Stones can be betowed upon a costume by double clicking them, just like cards. Keep in mind this will make the costume account bound, until the Stone is removed.
      • To remove an Enchantment Stone from a Costume, pay a visit to the Wise Old Woman at the second floor of the Main Office. This function is free.

    Juperos Expedition: Ancient Laboratory

    • Implemented the second episode of Juperos Expedition: Ancient Laboratory.
      • With the help of the adventurers, the two teams were able to locate a place who could be the main source of robots in the area. Upon arriving, they'll discover what could have been an abandoned lab... But is it really?
        Adventurers who have completed the main scenario of Juperos Expedition and are at least level 180 can access the laboratory, and no more than 8 adventurers can enter the laboratory at the same time.

      • Juperos Expedition: Ancient Laboratory brings 49 new pieces of Shadow Gear, including the final class set piece of Shadow Gear from Nightmare Toy Factory and Thanatos Tower Hard, as well as Dual Race pierce. These can be bought from Nuran (jup_fild01,306,344).
      • To craft Dual Race Pierce Shadow Gears, their single pierce variants at least +5 are required. The new piece will come pre-refined based on the lowest refine between both pieces.
        For example, for a Magic Exorcist Current Shadow Weapon, you would bring a +5 or higher Magic Exorcist Shadow Glove and a +5 or higher Magic Corrupted Shadow Gauntlet, to get a refine-equivalent Magic Exorcist Current Shadow Weapon.
      • Completing the instance rewards each participant with 20 Ancient Drives.
      • The final boss of the instance has a 1% chance of dropping Ancient Relic, which can be used to craft Golden Relic and Silver Relic.
        • Developer's Note: In the future, we will be implementing an additional method of obtainment for the Ancient Relic that will not be related to an MVP drop.

    We've been hearing the comments and we encountered two issues.
    The first issue is script-made Costumes through the Miles the Milliner NPC cannot get costume enchants.
    The reason for this is that Costume Enchants take a card slot, and the "Costume's" script system is taking all 4 card slots in those items.
    We are investigating if there is anything we can do about this, I personally think it would be great if these items could get Costume Enchants,
    but as I mentioned above, it is currently a technical hurdle that we are thinking about how we could fix.
    We've already got an idea that we're workshopping and we think will work.

     

    The second issue is that headgears that take multiple slots currently can only have one Costume Enchant
    This is something we will definitely pursue fixing, but it will require a maintenance.
    Sorry about that guys!

     

    We'll be trying to solve both issues as soon as possible, but both of these will require a maintenance
    For now, at least be comfortable in knowing that attaching these enchants to a costume and removing them is 100% free.
    So you can set them to whatever for now, and if and when we fix these issues, you'll be able to swap 'em into the ones you really wanted to use later at no cost.

    We also wanted to share a little bit of our design philosophy when creating the Enchantment Stone system.
    Had so many things come up last minute that we forgot to include this in the patch note itself, this is an abridgement of a conversation I was having with players on Discord:


    Our concept was to revive the experience of farming cards in NovaRO but with friendlier rates, so not quite the 0.1% chance across the board.

    Due to the overabundance of OCAs (as a result of our huge population) card farming in NovaRO, in the traditional sense, doesn't really exist.
    You just buy it for 50k from the market, or you pick it up from the floor because someone else threw it.

    Some people are asking why we made the drops be unaffected by gum, so I'm going to go into that a little bit too.
    We chose not to allow Bubble Gum items to work for these items as we felt that had we included Gum into the equation, we would have needed to lower the drop rates further to achieve our aim.
    As, like I mentioned, we wanted to emulate the experience of card farming.
    Allowing Gum to work would have meant every player would feel like it is pointless to farm these Enchantment Stones without popping gum.

    A big part of our design when creating this system was not just to revive the gameplay experience of card farming
    But a very particular type of card farming where you can turn off your brain and mindlessly farm the map.
    No worrying about consumables, no worrying about timers, just hang out in the map and kill mobs.

    Me and some other people in the team felt strongly that adding bubblegum into that equation absolutely ruined that interaction and instead turned it into another "I HAVE TO MAX OUT MY TIME AND MAKE IT OPTIMAL" or "IF I'M NOT USING GUM I'M DOING IT WRONG"

     

    We hope that you enjoy the system and that it creates pleasant moments of gameplay for you guys. :pepperhappy:

    Man, why the heck the good stuff is ruined with terrible decisions? I never thought about saying this but I'm really starting to think about quitting the server for once and use my free time for something else.
     

    I enjoy RO because it's fun to build things and don't mind to farm to get there but holy shit, this shit is starting to become painful to enjoy.

     

    First we got the MH delay after 2 freaking years of waiting, then we get the costume enchants with a good system but a painful way to get them.

    You want players playing the server, getting something to do, etc. Fine, nothing against that but holy shit the time I won't spending getting all those stones for all my chars.

     

    The entire system looks good on paper but then we check the drop rates and they're freaking painful low (ranging from 0.1% to 0.25% from what I checked; and the 0.1% I found is from ancient juperos that nobody gives a shit about it). Not only that isn't enough, ALL THE FREAKING STONES ARE ACCOUNT BOUND. Not only the basics nor only the ones upgraded, they're ALL ACCOUNT BOUND. ALL SINGLE OF THEM. No market options, no trades, you simply leave your soul in the game for them since you can't even gum them (seems like Ancient Juperos being abandoned by players isn't good enough to understand why low supply sucks but we also have MH looking like a freaking desert so whatever).

    Here is an example of what I've to do to get 2 stones for my RK (yes, 2 of the 4 possible to equip):

    - 12 stones from 175 maps

    - 9 from whatever easy maps

    - 6 from whatever easy maps

    - 2 rare drops MH

    Doesn't look bad? Here what I got from Tamruans (I need 6 of those stones btw):

    Yes, 1323 kills and only 2 dropped. First at 248, I think, second at around 850. Still waiting for the third that I won't get it today. This is insane if you want to get them for each of your characters - It's not even similar to crimson's rate in the past (they were 0.5%), it's worse.

    So in the end this is even worse than farming shadow gears.

     

    Oh, and btw, I don't get why the new instance isn't at the warper neither we've a go for the Ancient Juperos. But I don't even understand that place anymore.

    It seems to me like you're having a major overreaction over amounts of mobs killed, when an average player in NovaRO can go through thousands of mob kills in minutes. Killing 1323 mobs is not an impressive feat nor does it take an awfully long time these days. We actually ran bots as well as human playtesters in our test server to arrive at the numbers we did, to make sure we didn't accidentally make any one stone ridiculously hard to obtain due to bad monster density in a particular map. I'm also not quite sure for how many full characters your calculations are for, as you don't state that in your post. We very carefully looked at the drop rates for these items and we intentionally went for numbers that would not be ridiculous to achieve. But in your post, you're pointing to "only" having 2 stones only a few hours after the patch dropped, and I don't even know how much time you actively spent trying to farm those.

     

    I understand looking at the numbers by themselves can be overwhelming, especially if you're one of those players that has 30+ characters, but I advice players to play through the system first and try to aim for these items before making up your mind on what you think about it. I am certain players will be able to obtain the items they are aiming for in a reasonable timeframe.

     

    We're gonna be keeping a close eye on things, but we do not intend on making quick changes seeing as how the patch has only been live for a few hours.

    We are too old for this level of grind, RO players nowdays have limited time/stamina.

     

    Tbh to me the system is good but it should be at least 0,5% and tradeble(why not be???), but this will problably gonna take 2 or more weeks of player complaint bf it gets buffed, like it happened recently.

     

    Also no one plays this juperos content, i personally dont even know how to get there. I thought about giving this instance a try but discovered that it's not even on the warper. Why on earth that is not in the warper if the instances for the matching SG's parts are?

     

    I wonder when and if we gonna have the real good SG's that has been missing, alongside MH3? Hope to see it this year.

    Yes, I strongly feel if we made these items tradeable, they would overflow the market in a matter of days, and they would all be selling at ridiculously low zeny prices, undermining the whole concept. And the longer it went on, the worse it would get. You just have to look at the current state of cards to see that.

    Gave it a try. The system is interesting but the rates are too punishing for me. Just the garment enchant stone needs 5 honed gems. That's about 5x3 = 15 near-card droprate mob stones which you have to farm on your own and can't be boosted by bbg. :astgrr:
