Who will emerge as our eggs-pert headgearista? Contest Theme: Colorful This is a Ragnarok Online Screenshot Contest, celebrating character dress-up! This is a Screenshot Contest, so entries will be judged based on their scenery, originality, cleverness, and character attire (headgears et cetera). This contest will be voted on by staff with every participant anonymized. The idea is that you send your submissions to me via e-mail, then after I confirm the character belongs to you (by me) and your submission is valid, it will be voted on by the rest of the staff (excluding me) with no character names attached. On this note, please do not delete this character you're participating with, or change its appearance, as I'll need to have ample time to confirm the validity of your entry. Once we have the results, we'll publish all participant entries alongside the winners in the future winner thread along with their given character name. Rules: You are only able to submit 1 entry per PERSON. You will not be able to alter your entry afterwards, so please make sure it is the one you want to participate with. The screenshot you submit must be taken by you. Do not submit an entry for someone else. The screenshot you submit must be created expressly for the purpose of this contest. Please do not enter with work done outside of this contest's runtime, as doing so would be deeply unfair to the other contestants. Please only submit serious entries. We encourage everyone take part in the contest, but just like with any contest, troll and meme entries will be disqualified. Humor is amazing and awesome but it should not be confused with low-quality submissions. You are only allowed to use the default in-game assets. You can also use skills and items are to add visual effects to your entry. The dimension of your entry should be 400x400 pixels. Entries must be submitted via e-mail or else they will not count. Bug abuse, changes to .GRF files or other ways of pre-processing your images is NOT ALLOWED. Photoshop, Gimp, Paint, or any program of the sort is NOT ALLOWED for anything beyond cropping. Please include your in-game character name in your message. If you omit your name, we will not be able to send you your rewards once the contest is over. When you submit your screenshots, you agree that it can be used as promotional material by NovaRO (with appropriate credit given). This contest will run from April 12th until April 26th. The run-time is 2 weeks. Anyone who is disqualified from the contest for any reason forfeits their right to any rewards and cannot re-enter. We reserve the rights to adjust and clarify the rules of this contest if we deem this necessary. How to submit: Once you have snappyshotted your masterpiece, set up your e-mail like this: Write "Eggs-treme Screenshot Contest" as the title. Write your in-game name as plain text in the message body, as otherwise you will not be able to receive rewards. Be mindful to not delete or change the appearance of this character until the winners have been announced, as I will also need to make sure that the screenshot belongs to you. Attach two images. One should be an unedited fullscreen. One your final cropped image. Set this e-mail as the recipient and press send! This is a private mail, and nobody but yours truly will receive your screenshots alongside your character names. Patch Notes #176.5

What would happen is that you'd have killed some mobs extra; your counter should be left unaffected. The pity system is an invisible safety net, and as such cannot reasonably ask for the eligible kills to be consecutively chained à la "Bzzt kill X mob with bzzt laser focus. Avoid plant! Bzzt." What Nova said is that there can be multiple pity variables running at the same time but only the last active value will be stored upon logging out. The way I understand it, other mobs wouldn't have this variable so it wouldn't be possible for them to break it (although best for devs to confirm of course).
  6. Well that isn't too hard to imagine. Nobody makes decisions alone (moreover, like I wrote, the PvE people don't make any decisions) so it may prove difficult.
  7. If you really really want to and cannot decide, you may apply for several positions. However, sending us one is the ideal. As for obtaining two of the different positions listed here I do believe is very unlikely if not completely impossible.
  8. Apply for NovaRO staff & more While our door is always unlocked, there are times when we're particularly receptive to new applications. And, as you may have deduced, one of those times is now! We are launching this application round with two big changes. The first, is that we have merged our applications so that they may easily be found regardless of which position you are applying for. The other change is that we have moved from using the forum message system to Google Forms. This spells an end to copy-pasting! Instead you get to enjoy the perks of premade forms. And for us, all of this comes with an additional benefit of never again being shocked and awed by applications filled out entirely in neon pink. (Yes, this has happened, and if you are the guilty party reading this, shame on you.) So, in other words, win-win across the board. Right now the applications come in five different flavors, although more may be added in the future. Depending on which role you seek to fill, there may be specific requirements that we ask you to meet. Due to this, please read the (spoiler) section pertaining to your application carefully, as not doing so may lead to your application not being considered. Lastly, due to having large-scale testing available through Nova Labs, we have abandoned the concept of Player Testers and no longer seek to fill this position. The same is true for BG and WoE Comms as detailed here. All this said, please venture forth and explore the available options: Staff Application While it should be self-explanatory, in reality condensing what being staff is about is probably the hardest because it is what you make of it. Our ultimate goal is to provide the players of NovaRO the best game experience possible with the means, skills and time available to us. This is why we are looking for motivated people who want to help improving the server and things around it. We've divided staff into two primary categories: Game Masters and Developers. Game Masters: In the most minimalist terms, Game Masters are the server's front. They host events, assist with support, and interact with players as well as answer their questions, but this position can also include performing bot checks, writing quests, Discord moderation, coming up with event and content proposals, updating the wiki, assisting with bug reports, and more. Developers: Developers in NovaRO work in order to bring content to players, directly or indirectly. As a Developer, you can provide assistance with scripts, realize new game systems, create new exciting content, or even help to maintain our website and keep our backend up and running. Creative Helper Application Creative Helpers are the people who assist with creative work but who don't have GM accounts. Most of the time the role pertains to artists and writers, but it is not exclusive. Writers may be asked to write hat quests, spellcheck and adjust existing texts, or writing lore for content. Artists would receive tasks to do with general character art, backgrounds, as well as more specific requests depending on what is needed and what is their forte. PvE Consultant Application While we do listen to all of our players and will continue to do so, we seek to have access to a condensed version of our community in a handful of individuals that we have decided to call PvE Consultants. Unlike the commissioners who are able to make decisions for BG and WoE, the role of player consultants is to function only as a sounding board on PvE matters. In other words, they would be providing us with their first-hand feedback but have no active impact beyond making suggestions. Discord Moderator Application The all-important task of Discord Moderators is to aid us in keeping our English-speaking channels and also our non-English channels safe and friendly spaces for the communities participating in them. COMMON RULES & REQUIREMENTS Age: 18+. You have to be at least 18 years old in order for your application to be considered. Applications must be filled out in English. While most staff members are multilingual, the server's primary language remains English. Your command of this language does not have to be perfect but we consider that your application reflects your fluency, which is of utmost importance especially for potential Game Masters. It is they who represent the server so it is important that you are able to express yourself clearly. Please do not send multiple applications or ask about the application status. You will be notified of our final decision once we are ready to do so. Recruitment is a lenghty process and we will reply to everyone in due time. HOW TO APPLY Click on the relevant link (above) to proceed with the filling of the application form of your choice. Make sure you have read this post thoroughly, and post any questions you have in this thread before you begin filling in your answers. Also remember that lazy applications are singled out quickly and hardly in a positive way. So please spend adequate time on each question, pay attention to your punctuation, capitalize your i's, and refrain from using excessive abbreviations. Stay patient while you wait for our response. We are unlikely to begin processing any applications until at least some weeks in, so take your time with making sure everything is in order and that you didn't miss anything. We wish you all the best of luck and are looking forward to reading all of your applications. Did we miss a role in our applications that you think should be there? DM me and tell me about it!
  9. I cannot comment other than it was a close competition and only three slots..! We do wish everyone could be declared a winner though because finishing an artwork the likes you see here (and within the deadline at that) is a real achievement. So I do hope that all of our artists are super proud of their work, and we hope to see more of it!

Unfortunately it took us longer to go through the voting and I must regrettably announce that the loading screens that we made (out of nearly every image submitted to the contest) will not be making an appearance until next Halloween. This is perhaps not terribly surprising considering how late the contest ended last month but we're indeed very sorry to disappoint those of you who were really looking forward to seeing the new screens. It's a major bummer! On the positive, we now have a little less than a year until arguably the best season of the year returns -- and return it will. In this contest we had 14 members of our staff who voted and ranked the contest pictures from 17 of our talented artists! All the names provided below are the creators' player names. Big applauses and congratulations to the winners of Halloween Art Contest 2021! 1st Place .tg {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;border-color:black;} .tg td{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg th{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:normal;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg .tg-rg0h{font-size:12px;text-align:center;vertical-align:top} Ms SisSipPi 2nd Place .tg {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;border-color:black;} .tg td{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg th{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:normal;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg .tg-rg0h{font-size:12px;text-align:center;vertical-align:top} Hexapus 3rd Place .tg {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;border-color:black;} .tg td{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg th{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:normal;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg .tg-rg0h{font-size:12px;text-align:center;vertical-align:top} Rurumine Participant Snapshots Thank you everyone else too for the fun arts that you submitted, and this contest wouldn't have been the same -- and certainly not a contest -- without you! Sadly participants often seem to go unnoticed in the grand scheme of things so we had the idea to better show the rest of you just how much we enjoyed your work. We hope you enjoy this small initiative. So below every entry you can read a small assortment of the staff team's thoughts and impressions about each piece. REMINDER! If you took part in this contest, your participation rewards (Event Tickets) will be sent to you over the next few days. The same applies to winner's rewards. Please pick them up from your ROdex mails before they expire! We don't want them going missing! You'll have one full week to claim them by logging onto your characters and checking your incoming mails. Thank you again, everyone, and see you in the next contest! Halloween Art Contest

The favorite season of many, when unhinged mummies run about on both sides of the hemisphere, pumpkins populate many a home and colorful candy is getting ready to fill baskets. Between trampling on fallen leaves, jumping across puddles, spooking your unsuspecting neighbors, making delightful cauldron brews and ending days by wrapping oneself into a cozy blankie by the fire, you may find a moment do some positively enchanting doodlery! Perhaps while donning your most bewitching hat for inspiration, in a good warm company of a pitch black cat. Contest Theme: Halloween This is a Ragnarok Online Art Contest, celebrating the graces of the visual medium! You are more than welcome to write up descriptions of your work, detail your sources of inspiration, or add captions for your images but no text will be judged to determine our winners. Like before, there is no submission cap for this contest. This means that you if you really really like drawing (and have the time to) and want to submit lots of pictures, you can. But unlike before, we have opted to change a few things around as well. We'd have liked to continue with adding GM challenges (as it was a fun little activity for the team to think up also), but have opted to revamp this system. Last time we held an art contest it led to much too many challenges being completed for the sake of the promised Event Tickets, to the degree where we feel we no longer can or should offer rewards for them. We've considered simply limiting the number of challenges one is able to do, but worry even that may disproportionately encourage drawings to include select few on repeat. Hence, we have decided to keep some cosmetically, but stop offering additional prizes. Perhaps if we one day find how to make them work for our server, they may make a return in a different form, but for now we have opted to simply boost the total rewards across the board. In addition to the GM challenge system, we decided we have to disable anonymous submissions because they make checking for plagiarism significantly more difficult. It is regrettable that we have had individuals attempt to circumvent this rule by attempting to pass such work behind closed screens and we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause some of you. All that said, you know the rest: both traditional as well as digital creations are welcome so take out your favorite supplies of choice (so long you avoid making brushes out of cat whiskers) and indulge yourself in a creative moment or two. All artists will receive a small participation reward for sharing their art with the community. Rules: The work you submit must be your own original work. Do not submit somebody else's work (even if you have their permission). We understand the pull of wanting to place first, but please don't let it blind you. We want everyone participating take enough pride in their unique creativity and respect for this medium, and not steep as low as to resort to stealing, plagiarism, or posing as someone else. The work you submit must be created expressly for the purpose of this contest. Keep it PG. Artistic nudity is allowed, pornography is not. If your piece contains nudity please add a NSFW tag to your post and put your piece in spoiler tags. There is no size restriction. But, if you want to preserve the possibility that your artwork will be featured as a "Login Screen" or "Loading Screen", your image should be 1280 x 960 or higher and scalable to this size. Do not pre-emptively mark your art with our logo so that it may remain uniform across all potential loading screens. There is no limit on the number of illustrations. You can submit as many as you wish but you should group them under the same (one) post. Ignoring this rule in attempts of claiming more than one participation reward will boot you out of the contest. Please include your in-game character name in your submission post. If you omit your name, we will not be able to send you your rewards once the contest is over. You can change, swap out or edit your entry anytime within the time limit. We encourage all artists to either sign or place a water mark on their art. When you submit your art, you agree that your entry can be used as promotional material by NovaRO (with appropriate credit given). This contest will run from October 25th until November 15th. The run-time is 3 weeks. Anyone who is disqualified from the contest for any reason forfeits their right to any rewards and cannot re-enter. We reserve the rights to adjust and clarify the rules of this contest if we deem this necessary. How to submit: Once you have finished your artwork and ready to submit it, start by writing a new message in this thread and attach your image. You can do this by first clicking "Drag files here to attach or choose files...", then click on the image you have attached to embed it into the post. Do not copy-paste it, as this will degrade its resolution. Even better, if you can host your image somewhere, and provide us with an additional link in your post. If your image is very large in size, please put it in spoiler tags. Remember to include your in-game name somewhere in the submission, as plain text. This is so we can send you the in-game rewards via RODEX. You can alter your entry at any point during the runtime by editing your original post. If you want to submit a different image, or add your signature, feel free to do so. Rewards: 1st Place: Costume: Beret Of Artist OR Costume: Paintbrush Of Artist* 20,000 Nova Points 3 Halloween Egg II 400 Event Tickets Added as a Discord Banner Added as a Loading Screen (if possible) 2nd Place: 15,000 Nova Points 2 Halloween Egg II 350 Event Tickets Added as a Loading Screen (if possible) 3rd Place: 10,000 Nova Points 1 Halloween Egg II 300 Event Tickets Added as a Loading Screen (if possible) Participation Reward: The participation reward is given to everyone who enters, including the winners. It is a set amount and does not increase with the number of entries. 30 Event Tickets GM Challenges: The only purpose of these challenges is to serve as your inspiration. In practical terms, this means that doing one, two, or all of them yields no additional reward (for the reasons detailed in the post above) but should you be interested in incorporating them as a way to get started, or just because, here you go! Draw a RO mob as a ghost, or have one camouflaged as one Hide a crow somewhere in your picture Find a creative, if not brutal, totally PG, use for a pumpkin or its parts, raw or cooked As always, we wish everyone the spookiest of luck and hope you have a blast. Remember to take a break to do costumey Trick-n'-Treatin' to really take in some crisp autumn air. If you have additional questions or enquiries about this event, you are welcome to post them directly into this thread. * Both of these items are account-bound. If the winner has already obtained both of these headgears, or doesn't want to claim it, this prize will go to the runner-up.
  15. Unfortunately we have had to disqualify the current 3rd place holder for using commissioned work. It is really rather unfortunate that such information was omitted during submission and first reached us first after this post was published. Due to the same reason, it is conceivable that we will have to close off private submissions in our future contests so this doesn't happen again. We have considered sending the rewards to the original artist, however, factoring in that they didn't explicitly want to participate in this contest, their work -- while lovely -- is holding up somebody else's rewards and position. We're presently polling for the new 3rd place and will update this thread in approximately 12 hours! Like always, everyone is welcome to participate in these constests regardless of their skill level, be they professional or just starting out, but it would absolutely not be fair for us to accept art that was commissioned either generally or for the purpose. These contests are for the community -- in this particular case the people who enjoy drawing -- and were never designed for anyone to reap benefits off from the work of someone else. This should not have been needed to be spelled-out.
  16. Picnic Art Contest Winners Here emerge our art contest winners with their delicious, nutricious picnic-art! It's often that one says that food tastes even better outside, and surely great company can't hurt! This time 19 members of our staff helped vote on the contest pictures from 17 of our talented artists! The competition between the 1st and 2nd places was particularly tough and cut very close. Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you everyone else too for the fun arts most of which we now also get to admire as loading screens. We made loading screens of all the artwork that we could, and they'll be rotating over time so as many can make an appearance in-game as possible. That was all for this contest -- we hope the good weather stays with you so you get to enjoy all of the frolicking in the grass that you desire. All credit goes to the amazing original art creators whose player names are provided below! 1st Place .tg {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;border-color:black;} .tg td{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg th{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:normal;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg .tg-rg0h{font-size:12px;text-align:center;vertical-align:top} OcBabe 2nd Place .tg {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;border-color:black;} .tg td{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg th{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:normal;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg .tg-rg0h{font-size:12px;text-align:center;vertical-align:top} Dommatrix 3rd Place .tg {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;border-color:black;} .tg td{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg th{font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:normal;padding:10px 5px;border-style:solid;border-width:0px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;} .tg .tg-rg0h{font-size:12px;text-align:center;vertical-align:top} Rurumine And here a quick reminder for all participants (and not only the winners)! Your participation rewards (Event Tickets) will be tallied together with the GM Challenges you did and sent to you over the next few days. Please pick them up from your ROdex mails before they expire! It would be sad if they did, and we wouldn't want that to happen. You'll have one week to claim them by logging onto your characters and checking your incoming mails. For the winners' illustrations that would mean logging onto the character listed above, and for the rest of the participants, the character name you gave us in the contest topic or private submission messages. Thank you again, everyone, and see you around! The staff team wishes you a sunny day!
  17. These flyers were given out in Prontera earlier today. On the back there is this long of details about all the changes you may expect this summer. Below you can read more about what these changes are and what will happen to the various items you may have obtained last year. All Summer Festival Coins will be transformed into Rusty Summer Festival Coins. All Rainbow Gemstones will be transformed into Dull Gemstones. All 2020 Summer Tickets will be transformed into Ripped Tickets. All Rusty Summer Festival Coins can be exchanged into Summer Festival Coins at a 3:1 ratio when you speak with the Ferryman. The same applies to Dull Gemstones, that will be exchangeable into Rainbow Gemstones at the same 3:1 ratio. If you want to use Rainbow Gemstones at their present value, you can do so at the Festival Painter (who can be found at Main Office 3rd floor). This will remain the case until the maintenance that will bring the new festival. Ripped Tickets can be exchanged into Summer Festival Coins at a 1:100 ratio. One ticket will become 100 Summer Festival Coins. Golden Pearls will remain unchanged. If you hold any of these, you'll be able to use these right away as normal. The items listed below will be removed and have to be obtained anew: Deepwater Pearls Pouring Keys Wetsuit Iron Shovel Steel Shovel Obsidian Shovel Steel Shards Obsidian Shards Wooden Rod Iron Rod Steel Rod Golden Rod Shiny Clamshell Sturdy Turtle Shell Cool Conch Cheap Lure Worm Lure Standard Lure Rainbow Lure These changes are going into effect because of the fact that new rewards are being attached to the different activities around the island. We feel compelled to reset player's progress in order to get everyone to share the same starting line. We've also made some minor changes to digging and fishing to prevent upgrade material stacking. We write this message so that players who may still have Rainbow Gemstones in their inventory get an opportunity to use them at their original value. Please note that the above is scheduled to take place prior to every future Summer Festival as well and not only this one. We've also listened to your feedback from last year, and as the consequence have drastically changed our Summer Weeklies. In comparison with today's weeklies, the request will be the following: Removed: Weapon Refinement Reward: 5 Endeavor Tokens Removed: Daily Reward Reward: 1 Blacksmith's Blessing Added: Summer Festival Attendance Task: Complete 4 sets of Summer Dailies Reward: 5 Endeavor Tokens Added: Festival Games Task: Play 25 Multiplayer games in the Festival Island (decreased from 40) Reward: 500 Summer Coins Increased the reward from 'Clear All Weekly Quests' to 7 Blacksmith's Blessing to account for the removal of 'Daily Reward'. These two weeklies have been fully removed and will not make a reappearance again: Removed: Festival Coins Task: Collect 9,000 Summer Coins Reward: 1 Blacksmith's Blessing Removed: Summer Spirit Task: Travel to Rock Island and obtain a 'Okay!' rating or higher 5 times Reward: 300 Summer Festival Coins We are looking forward to taking you to to the Summer Festival grounds that will open doors on June the 21st. Please note again that time to do weeklies will exceptionally be 6 days due to the festival opening on a Monday. Hope to see you then!

    Picnic Art Contest

Annnd closed! It's awesome to see all of these last-day submissions: didn't expect this many and am very glad you people made it! There will be another post detailing the winners once we do our staff voting and add your drawings as loading screens. We'll probably need a couple of weeks for that. But, thank you folks for participating, and see you soon!

    Picnic Art Contest

While I'm not categorically opposed to the suggestion, I feel it would be a little unfair to those who did finish their submissions on time. It's true that we don't have a massive amount of drawings (and that it would be great to have some more!), but I'm unsure about a short extension being the correct approach. In other words, we may decide to extend it, but as I would not count on it happening, I recommend everyone who's still working on their pieces to try to reach the given deadline inasmuch as possible. Good luck!

    Picnic Art Contest

I feel like it is a tad too late to do a staff gallery for this challenge, as gathering screenshots of everyone isn't instant and I feel it would only be fair if the full team was equally represented. In a pinch there's the signature avatar generator Aimer suggested (!sig in #bot-commands on our Discord). It's true that it doesn't show uniform colours, but I'm pretty sure you could also reach out to any of us in private for a screenie. But in any case, have fun with your drawing!
  21. Best wishes on your birthday, Lyndiss!

    Picnic Art Contest

There's no limit to how many of the GM challenges you can do in one drawing. We will send you rewards for all of those that you do, whether they are in same or different images. Just list them up in your submission so we better know what we're looking for.

    Picnic Art Contest

Ah, those sometimes hated, and occasionally much awaited sunny days on the northern hemisphere (sorry, southern hemisphere folks)! When it's not storming, or indeed raining, or excessively cloud...ing (if that's a word in this context), there are those days you can finally unwrap your blankie outside without an inherent risk of frostbite. Through this action of rolling out a piece of fabric, table cloth -- or a makeshift bed sheet -- you can set your very own claim on a previously unoccupied one meter of earth that you then can use for various activities. For example, you could indulge in a romantic three-course meal with your special someone... or just read a book while a gentle breeze caresses your flowing locks... Or just lie there cooking like a continental crab. Or maybe you'd like to pick a peaceful place under a tree in order to best preserve your vampiric complexion throughout the year. We no judge. Picnics (and the baskets containing them) are marvelous, and in whatever manner that you may enjoy them -- together or alone -- offer you a good opportunity to get some fresh air. Contest Theme: Picnic This is a Ragnarok Online Art Contest, so entries will be judged by the staff team on the following: clear presence of the theme, creativity and originality. You are more than welcome to write up descriptions of your work or captions for your images but no text will be judged to determine our winners. Like previously, there is no submission cap for this contest. This means that you if you really like drawing and want to submit lots of pictures, you can! We're also continuing with GM challenges an idea from our dear friends at TalonRO. For us, this means you can earn more Event Tickets per GM challenge you complete if your submission includes them. Both are purely optional and there for your enjoyment. As always, both traditional as well as digital creations are welcome so take out your favourite supplies of choice and indulge yourself in a creative moment or two! All artists will receive a small participation reward for sharing their art with the community. Rules: There is no limit on the number of illustrations. You can submit as many as you wish but please group them under the same (one) post. There is no size restriction. But, if you want to preserve the possibility that your artwork will be featured as a "Login Screen" or "Loading Screen", your image should be 1280 x 960 or higher and scalable to this size. Include your in-game character name in your submission post. If you omit your name, we will not be able to send you your rewards! Please only submit serious entries. Humor is welcome and we encourage artists from all skill levels to take part, but troll and meme entries will be disqualified. Artistic nudity is allowed, pornography is not. If your piece contains nudity please add a NSFW tag to your post and put your piece in spoiler tags. No plagiarism is allowed. If we find someone submitting plagiarized artwork they will be disqualified. If you wish to submit your entry anonymously, you can do so via this link. Write "Art Contest" as the message title. You can change, swap out or edit your entry anytime within the time limit. We encourage all artists to either sign or place a water mark on their art. This contest will run from May 15th until June 5th. The run-time is 3 weeks. When you submit your art, you agree that your entry can be used as promotional material by NovaRO (with appropriate credit given). Anyone who is disqualified from the contest for any reason forfeits their right to participation rewards and cannot re-enter. We reserve the rights to adjust and clarify the rules of this contest if we deem necessary. If your image is significantly large in size, please put it in spoiler tags. Remember to include your in-game name and the GM challenges you did (if any). This is so we can send you the in-game rewards via RODEX and to help with their distribution. You can alter your entry at any point during this contest runtime by editing your original post. If you wanted to submit a different image, or add your signature, feel free to do so. If possible, please avoid from marking your art with our logo preemptively so that it may remain uniform across all potential loading screens. If the winner has already obtained both of these headgears, this prize will go to the runner-up.
  24. Hello Greystache! That's a good question. It would be great if there was a possibility for us to do this initiative in-game also, but it's quite a bit less simple than what I think it might look like at a glance. I won't be going into too much detail but as tempting the proposal is, after discussing it, we found it poses a few too many dilemmas for us. On one hand we don't feel we can give moderators the same commands that a regular GMs wields, and on the other, stripping these commands means chipping away the authority that a GM position holds. When weighing the benefits of this sort of new "middlegroundish" role in-game, we found we're more concerned about it not being able to able to do enough to justify its existence and we have yet to come up with a satisfactory solution. Because of this, we are not explicitly looking for in-game channel moderators. We're (of course) always open to our GMs tackling the channels to their best abililty, but aside from that, for the rest of the way we rely on player reports.
  25. Become A Discord Moderator While the staff team is widely international, there are still only so many languages we are able to cover among us at any given time. Providing adequate, real-time moderation across our Discord's many language channels has proven challenging, if not unrealistic. Recently it has also not been uncommon that player reports and screenshots submitted to us contain crucial information in languages we cannot fluently communicate in or properly decipher on a short notice, and this tends to slow down our ability to act as fast as we'd like. As, we realize, this is less than an ideal circumstance to have for a server of this size, we are looking to recruit dedicated Discord Mods who we hope can aid us in keeping also our non-English channels safe and friendly spaces for the communities participating in them. Here is a list of the current language channels on our Discord (in no particular order): .tg {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;} .tg td{border-color:black;border-style:dashed;border-width:1px;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px; overflow:hidden;padding:10px 5px;word-break:normal;} .tg th{border-color:black;border-style:dashed;border-width:1px;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px; font-weight:normal;overflow:hidden;padding:10px 5px;word-break:normal;} .tg .tg-ikqu{border-color:#ffffff;color:#000000;text-align:left;vertical-align:top} Spanish Russian Vietnamese French Korean Italian Portuguese Japanese Arabic Tagalog Chinese Malay German Indonesian As a prospective individual, we envision you as skilled at evaluating whatever situation that may come your way calmly and fairly, and adept at making decisions that are in accordance with our rules. Taking responsibility should be your second nature, as it is at the front, core and center in the role of a moderator. Essentially, what you would do, is making sure everyone plays nice. To give you an idea, this can take various forms and range from dispensing thoughtful reminders to handling incidents of verbal abuse between two players, to swiftly removing inappropriate content. If you're following through this far, please note that we largely expect you to apply to one language channel only (from the list above). We are aware that you may be able to speak multiple different languages fluently and well, and indeed it is not our intention to slow your roll, but our foremost priority is that you have (and take) reasonable time to focus on one channel of your choice and interest. It is more important to us that this particular task (moderating of your channel of choice) is done well than effort to cover all possible areas with varying degrees of success. However, regardless of your chosen language, you need to have a good command of English. To work well with you, we need to have a language in common. Here we'd also like to note that if you speak a language that is not currently on our Discord but feel it should be because there's community for it, don't hesitate to reach out to us. While above all we seek to fill moderation posts for the various languages on our Discord, we also welcome a handful of general moderators to join us. Such individuals would be expected to keep an eye on the class channels in particular, and otherwise similarly tasked with moderating responsibly and well. .tg {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;} .tg td{border-color:white; border-style:dashed;border-width:1px;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px; overflow:hidden;padding:10px 5px;word-break:normal;} .tg th{border-color:white;border-style:dashed;border-width:1px;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:14px; font-weight:normal;overflow:hidden;padding:10px 5px;word-break:normal;} .tg .tg-0lax{border-color:#FF7F00;text-align:left;vertical-align:top} If you are new to moderation but eager to learn, Discord has compiled a useful collection of articles in their Moderator Academy. We strongly encourage all prospective applicants to read through these texts. Kindly note that being a moderator is classified as volunteer work. Please do not expect monetary reimbursement from having this position. As with our regular applications, before you proceed, read the rest of this post thoroughly, and post any questions you have in this thread before you begin filling in your answers. RULES & REQUIREMENTS Age: 18 or older. You have to be at least 18 years old in order for your application to be considered. Applications must be filled out in English. While most staff members are multilingual, the server's primary language remains English. Your command of this language does not have to be perfect but we consider that your application reflects your fluency. Game Masters represent the server so it is important that you are able to express yourself clearly and well. All applications must be filled out in their entirety. Please do not leave any fields empty. While we understand that some questions may seem difficult or tedious to answer, we ask that you fill each field to the best of your ability. Please aspire to use full sentences, proper punctuation and capitalization and also avoid abbreviations. Any applications filled out improperly will not be considered. As we process a large number of applications, we will not be contacting any individual applicants regarding potential errors or omissions. It would also not be fair for those applicants who invested time into making sure theirs were properly filled. So please double-check your application before you send it to us. Please do not send multiple applications or ask about the application status. You will be notified of our final decision once we are ready to do so. Recruitment is a lenghty process and we will reply to everyone in due time. Do not copy someone else's application. The application should come from you and you alone. If we find any signs of copied work, you (both) will be instantly rejected. Do not post applications in this thread. They will be deleted, and you will be immediately disqualified. The only thing this would do, would be providing a clear indication that you have not paid adequate attention to this section. HOW TO APPLY All of our applications have been moved into this thread. We are looking forward to adding some mods on our Discord! Toodles!
