What we're working on - NovaRO Development Update

Hello and welcome to our Development Update devblog!
Today we'll be going over some of the planned changes and what we're working on for the coming months as well as some ideas we have pending. All details contained in this post refer to internal work in progress and are subject to change.
 

Halloween

To kick it off, a brief mention of our next seasonal event which is just around the corner, Halloween. As mentioned on a previous forum reply, we're shifting back our focus from seasonal events in favor of non-seasonal content and this will most likely be one of the last seasonal event with lots of new additions.

Thanatos Tower
As the last major official content release before 4th jobs, the Thanatos Tower revamp, including the new Memories of Thanatos instance, is currently in the works. While we cannot announce a definite release date for now, you can expect it to make its way to NovaRO sooner than later.
 

kRO cash shop gears and Shadow Sets
We're moving away from cash shop and Shadow Sets being strictly tied to Monster Hunting content. In the future, expect to see those appear as rewards from more places. Some such examples could be new and challenging instances, custom episode releases or even as quest rewards where applicable.

 

New Eden Equipment and Eden Academy
For some time, we've felt the new player experience is a bit lacking in some aspects. For many new players, starting on NovaRO is straightforward initially, but gets increasingly more complicated as they start making their way into mid and end game. As an effort to make our new player experience better, not only are we exploring the implementation of newly released Eden equipment, but also a major revamp to the Izlude Academy, interconnected with the Eden Group. We are aware this may not be the most exciting news for some of our long-term players, but we feel it is a very important step to bridge the gap after Poring Island.
 

Nightmare Toy Factory
Immediately contrasting the block above, we're excited to share a retelling of Horror Toy Factory, in the same spirit of Legacy of Glast Heim. Inside a dream-turned-nightmare, you'll face brand new bosses with challenging mechanics and reap new rewards.
We'll be doing a deeper dive on Nightmare Toy Factory in the near future.

4th Jobs and new systems
One of the currently most asked questions is when are 4th jobs coming to NovaRO. Needless to say, tackling that project isn't a simple endeavor and cannot be completed overnight. A massive amount of work needs to go towards proper testing and research of skill behaviors, formulas, mechanics and interactions. Aside from the actual main classes, new systems such as Grading and Reforming need proper implementations to fit our server. This is a very important release to us and we do not want to rush content which is unfinished, untested or broken.
That said, we are happy to announce that as early as this coming weekend, a new client may be coming our way for the initial internal development and testing of 4th jobs and all new related systems, including the new Elemental Table that was implemented on kRO.
 

NovaRO Labs
Bearing that in mind, we're also exploring an open, free-for-all testing server not only for 4th jobs, but for most future content releases, as being able to identify game-breaking bugs and potential server crashes early in development will greatly help not only speeding that process, but also in getting a more clean and smooth release in the live servers.

 

 

Many of these projects have been underway for quite some time, some of them close to completion. We are very excited to be able to share this news with our players and we hope you are as excited to see their release in the near future. As each project approaches their release dates, we will be sharing more details about them in their own devblog posts. Stay tuned!

About this... how about to implement Noblesse, Imperial and Grace armors? can be a good option for new player that cannot go for top tier gears.

If by powered chip you mean supplemental chip, that item doesn't exist in kRO.

We cannot (yet) confirm which equipment or Shadow Sets will exactly be included in which content and in what order, but I'll be sharing this information as soon as possible in future devblogs or patch notes that specifically focus on certain pieces of content.

The first step here is compiling an internal comprehensive list of everything which is not yet implemented, ordered by release date on kRO. This is already done and has been for a while for all Cash Shop/Kashua Box equipment, and we're currently working on compiling a similar list for Shadow Gears, which is very close to being completed, probably tomorrow or the day after. From that, it is a matter of distributing rewards to content and making sure their reward structures are fit for the content. For example, it is unlikely we would be attaching a single accessory (which is non-refineable) to a whole new big piece of content, as longevity of content is important to us, while avoiding unnecessary and arbritrary time gates.

When we say rewards won't be by default attached to Monster Hunting, we do not mean it has been stopped being developed for. Development of MH will continue in tandem with all new content described on the main post. Hopefully I won't get yelled at for saying this, but Hrungnir is at what we consider a complete state, but rewards structure is waiting on the rewards list described above and some rounds of (proper) playtesting.

Yeah that's what I was referring to. Aww, man. I didn't know that it wasn't on kRO. Would you happen to know if the class costume enchants are over there? I really just need a way to reduce the axe tornado cooldown to 0. haha

It's a nice reminder of what things are being worked on, one can read someone's kRO update summary and provide a similar preview. We were given preview of the MH3 thing last year and we're given the same coming soon™ promo and one year later it still isn't here. The longstanding question that your side isn't providing are rough estimates of when these will be implemented, which is the critical update no one is willing to provide.

The issue here is Monster Hunting content and an official instance rehash is not equivalent. The Monster Hunting team consists of 2 main people, which are spread somewhat thin between multiple projects. To put it bluntly, MH development does take longer and is more complex and prone to delays compared to regular content or base game improvements, which is one of the main reasonings we'll not be stricly tying specific rewards to this content anymore.
The post includes Halloween because we expect most things we shared to be ready in a timely manner during or after the event, but if the only thing we're waiting for here is a definite date, I'm sorry to disappoint, but we cannot provide those yet because they do not exist, otherwise I would be happily sharing those.
