The Oboro is the final version of the female Ninja class. Like 3rd classes, their base level caps at 175 and their job level at 60. Oboros, like Kagerous, can use consumables to summon Charms that can endow their weapon and give damage bonuses to their skills. They excel on farming with a physical build, due to their high sustain and survivability, but can also deal high amounts of magic damage, making the class very versatile. With all those tricks up their sleeves, they're also great contenders for PvP.

Oboros differ from their male counterparts due to 3 skills: 3027.png Moonlight Fantasy, 3029.png Ominous Moonlight and 3026.png Distorted Crescent.

A Ninja requires job level 70 and base level 99 in order to become an Oboro.

Builds

Throwing

Mostly used for farming purposes, due to the AoE damage of 3009.png Swirling Petal, reaching high enough damage to farm comfortably in the most common farming places, such as Magma Dungeon, Juperos and Gefenia. Other skills used are 3007.png Kunai Splash and 3006.png Kunai Explosion.

Having 10 elemental charms will endow your weapon with their respective element, enabling Oboros to switch elements on the fly. Additionally, having 3018.png Earth Charms active nets you a bonus of 15% Weapon Attack per charm, making them a great option if you don't need the elemental advantage.

Being a Physical Ranged damage build, STR and DEX play huge part on the damage and accuracy/cast time, respectively. AGI also plays a part on 3009.png Swirling Petal damage formula, on top of providing flee, increasing your survivability even further.

It's also the recommended leveling build, being cheap to start. Skills such as 531.png Cicada Skin Shed and 3011.png Pure Soul make Oboros hard to kill in PVM, with the later enabling them to farm until 90% weight with no HP/SP problems.

Due to the high, 3 second cooldown, of 3009.png Swirling Petal, using a Golden Ninja Set is highly advisable. You can get (and enchant) it at Rock Ridge, for Rock Ridge Coins.

Mind you that 3026.png Distorted Crescent, an Oboro exclusive skill, boosts your ATK by a large amount, giving it the edge over Kagerou.

Magic

The preferred build for endgame Oboro. 534.png Flaming Petals, with the 200% boost from 3015.png Fire Charms, provide great damage and can be spammed, as it has no After Cast Delay. That being said, ASPD plays a great part on how much it can be spammed, given that you're instant casting your spells.

As most magic damage builds, INT is your primary stat for damage, together with DEX for casting time and AGI for ASPD. Focus on getting instant cast, good ASPD and INT, in that order, as ASPD becomes a DPS multiplier once you get to instant cast.

537.png Freezing Spear, together with 3016.png Ice Charms, can be used to deal with Fire property monsters, as most of our damage is Fire.

540.png Wind Blade is also a viable option of spammable damage, although more difficult to scale it via gears and cards, it gains a similar, 200% boost from using 10 3017.png Wind Charms.

Even with the Throwing build being preferred for farming, that does not mean that Magic Oboro can't do it, but it prefers higher HP mobs from less dense maps, as AoE damage, while possible with 536.png Exploding Dragon is not it's forte.

Once again, 3026.png Distorted Crescent adds a great amount of MATK, increasing your damage and giving Oboro the edge over Kagerou.

It's also a good build choice for those looking for a character that can easily do GMT.

Stats

Stat Bonus (Job Lv 60 Oboro)
STR AGI VIT INT DEX LUK
+7 +6 +4 +6 +8 +4

STR (Strength): Increases Weight Limit and ATK. Main stat for damage in Throwing builds. Also decreases the duration of Sorcerers’ Vacuum Extreme debuff.

AGI (Agility): Raises ASPD and flee, reduces Animation delay. Having 100 AGI gives immunity to Bleeding and Sleep statuses, also reduces the duration of Masquerades from Shadow Chaser. Plays a role in 3009.png Swirling Petal's damage calculation.

INT (Intelligence): Increases MATK by +1.5 per point, decreases Cast time, raises SP pool and regeneration. Also gives immunity to Silence, helps with Sleep, Deep Sleep and Oblivion Curse duration. Primary stat for damage in Magic builds.

VIT (Vitality): Increases Max HP, Soft DEF, and Soft MDEF. Also increases resistance against some debuffs (e.g. Stun, Poison, Burning). Main stat for 544.png Killing Strike builds.

DEX (Dexterity): Reduces Cast time and provides HIT, also raises your ASPD and mATK by 1/5 therefore it is ideal to have your DEX at multiples of 5. Also plays a role on 3009.png Swirling Petal's damage calculation. Since 3022.png 16th Night removes any fixed cast, Temporal Boots of Dexterity are not needed, but it's variable cast time reduction stacks multiplicatively with stats, you still need high DEX values to get instant cast.

LUK (Luck): Every 3 points of LUK gives an additional +1 ATK/mATK, which makes it a very viable option to gain some mATK at later levels. Raising your INT from 120 to 130 would require you to use 340 stat points and would net you +15 mATK, while raising LUK from 1 to 30 would cost you only 86 stat points, and raise your mATK by +10. Glass Cannon and damage oriented builds usually have 30 or 60 LUK, depending on the player's taste. LUK slightly increases resistance against some debuffs and reduces the duration of debuffs (e.g. Frozen, Sleep, Stone Curse, Genetic’s Mandragora Howling).

Leveling Process

Ninja (Lv 1 - Lv 99)

  • Note: You may at any time during this process do the Cautious Village Quest as Oboros do not need to Rebirth, keep in mind you will need your own usable equipment if you choose to skip normal leveling.
  • Lv 1 - Lv 15+
    • For newer players it is especially recommended to do the tutorial level provided by the NovaRo team. (It is also quite easy and possibly faster.)
    • Get DEX to 30 and AGI to 10 during the tutorial (DEX first) this will later enable you to fight Skeletons in Payon cave without missing.
  • If not doing the tutorial use this:
    • Make sure to talk to Captain Carroc to find out how to play if you do not already know how. Talk to him again after getting off the boat.
    • Talk to the Agi Acolyte after that to get a speed boost then head to the center of town and talk to the shop helper just northwest of the fountain. Listen to her, then take the experience quest. Tell her you will do it and go buy a red potion from the store.
    • After this she will ask you to sell a poor can. This whole process will teach you about NPC selling and buying and will net you a big amount of experience.
    • Make sure to spend your skill points! Head over to Prontera using the custom server command @go prontera or @go 0. Here you will be greeted and guided to the Main Office building. Follow the red arrows on the ground inside and head to the upper left to the Job Master. Speak with him to become a Taekwon Class. Make sure to use your Novice Package provided to you by NovaRO.
  • Lv 16 - Lv 26
    • Warp to Payon Cave and kill Zombies and Skeletons until you are in the next bracket (26-50).
    • Use your Novice Main Gauche from Mom and level up the fire magic branch (534.png Flaming Petals down). Make sure to equip your Ring of Experience from the Novice Package! If this is not your first character, purchase many (200+) Flame Stone from the Ninja Dealer in Prontera (eventually you will need these to make leveling a lot easier with AoE attacks).
  • Lv 26 - Lv 50
    • Go straight to Eden (@go eden / @go 36) and talk to Lime Evenor behind the desk (select Join the Eden Group), follow her dialogue and then move on to Instructor Boya next to her (again follower her dialogue). Instructor Boya's Eden Equipment Quest in Payon Cave: Talk to the Eden Group Member outside of Payon Cave before you start hunting Skeletons and Poporings. When you've completed them, report to the Eden Group Member, then to Instructor Boya. You will receive your first set of Eden Equipment from Administrator Michael in the room behind the Blue Door.
    • Once done move onto the floors below and grind to Base level 50 while leveling up 543.png Ninja Aura, 533.png Ninja Mastery and 531.png Cicada Skin Shed.
  • Lv 50 - Lv 70
    • Go back to yet another Instructor Boya's Eden Equipment Quest in Orc Dungeon: Talk to the Eden Group Member outside of Orc Dungeon before you start hunting Orc Zombies and Orc Skeletons. When you've completed them, report to the Eden Group Member then to instructor Boya. You will receive your second set of Eden Equipment from Administrator Michael in the room behind the Blue Door.
    • There are many many monsters in this area and it may be tough to level up at first. You should really be using AoE skills now sell loot from Payon Cave to get multiple Flame Stone from the Ninja Dealer in Prontera as each cast of these skills will consume one.
  • Lv 70 - 85
    • Instructor Ur's Eden Equipment Quest in Glast Heim: Talk to the Eden Group Member outside of Glast Heim Churchyard before you start hunting Wraiths and Evil Druids. When you've completed them, report to the Eden Group Member then to instructor Ur. You will receive your third and final set of Eden Equipment from Blacksmith Thorn in the room behind the Blue Door.
    • Doing this quest allows you to enchant your level 3 Eden weapon once with Weapons Expert BK
  • Lv 85 - Lv 99
    • Level range to join the first bracket of Gramps quests. Note that Gramps quests are rotated at the start of every month. You can also hunt them outside of Gramps map. Use the @whereis (monster name) command to find out where a monster spawns.
    • Join a party for the Gramps quests in Eden, using the #lfg channel or a chat room in Eden Headquarters, be very specific as to where you want to go and what level/class you are. Learn what elements the monsters are and how to counter them before entering as this will make your quest easier. Align your element to the monster's weaknesses and hit with melee or Es skills while buffing with; Ka and Spirit skills on; yourself and party members.
    • Learn what monsters you are fighting there, fire may not be as effective as before, sometimes elemental magic in general will not be! If such is the case you can always grab the water and ice branch (537.png Freezing Spear down) and slow your enemies with (538.png Watery Evasion whie freezing them with (539.png Snow Flake Draft.

Oboro (Lv 99+)

  • If you haven't yet done so, do the Cautious Village Quest in Malaya.
  • Lv 115 - Lv 144
    • Level range to join the second bracket of Gramps quests.
  • Lv 100-110
    • Gelkah's Quests In Eden there are several NPCs in the back room near across from where you would get your Eden equipment. Talk to Gelkah for the first of many repeatable quests.
  • Lv 111-120
  • Lv 120-130
  • Lv 125
    • Minimum level to access Airship Assault, Devil's Tower.
      • Airship Assault has a strong boss if you are near this level, he can be hurt by holy element skills although one type of monster in there is not hurt and is actually healed by this element.
      • In Devil's Tower all monsters but one are dark element and will be hurt by Holy element.
  • Lv 130-140
  • Lv 140
  • Lv 145 - Lv 175
    • Level range to join the third bracket of Gramps quests.
      • Proceed the same way you would as in earlier Gramps quests, find out the monsters before hand, your party compliments and role.
  • Lv 145
    • Minimum level to access Sarah and Fenrir.
      • Sarah and Fenrir has strong dark monsters that should be defeated for extra rewards however dark monsters take reduced damage from most elements.
  • Lv 160
    • Minimum level to access Bios Island, Morse Cave, Temple of the Demon God, Monster Hunter, and Deserted Island.
      • Bios Island has Earth, Fire, Water and Undead Monsters, wow most elements arent effective here Fortunately this really is a party instance so try to grab one.
      • Morse Cave has a large amount of Neutral monsters but Fire element should make short work of the Earth boss.
      • Temple of the Demon God and Monster Hunter have various monsters and will often require a full sized party to complete (12 and 5 respectively). Learn about your party members thoroughly and do not get in the way. If you can deal damage deal damage, tanks will tank of course.
      • Deserted Island has Water monsters, use Wind element here.
    • Recommended level to try Old Glast Heim Hard Mode if you have not done so at this point.
      • The same instance procedures as Old Glast Heim Normal, Fire element is effective in Old Glast Heim and are good as many monsters will use Agi Up, rendering normal attacks hard to hit with.
