The Rune Knight (RK) a the 3rd job class of Knights. Rune Knights are powerful physical damage dealers, capable of dealing heavy melee damage to a single target or destroying mobs of enemies using Dragon Breath. They also have access to special consumable items called runes, which perform a variety of unique buffs and effects.


Builds

Dragon Breath

Dragon Breath builds are very common in party play PVM and organized War of Emperium. They focus on dealing heavy area damage using 2008.png Dragon Breath and 5004.png Dragon Breath - Water. However, both Dragon Breath skills have a significant Cast Delay of 2 seconds, which will normally prevent spamming while playing alone. Therefore, this build works best when paired with a Minstrel, as the delay is eliminated entirely by 321.png Poem of Bragi.

The most important aspect of the build is to have as much HP and SP as possible, and then to stack ranged damage bonuses. However, if this build is being used without a Minstrel's support, cast delay reduction will take higher priority over other stats.

Critical ASPD

This build is mainly for Solo Play. Utilizing their many self-buffs, especially with their 359.png Frenzy skill, Rune Knights can be extremely powerful auto-attackers. Critical ASPD build RKs are one of the most potent as well as self-sustaining single-target damage dealers of the entire game. With Critical hits also ignoring monster's FLEE, this build is also suitable for hunting down hard-to-hit enemies.

The downside to this build is that they won't have any particularly reliable AoE damage, which means they're only useful against a handful of endgame content, notably Sky Fortress.

Spiral Pierce

Much less common than the two listed above, Spiral Pierce builds specialise on heavy single-target damage in Party play rather than Solo. This makes it suitable for killing off bosses of most endgame party Instances. The build itself relies on having a Minstrel to give 321.png Poem of Bragi to eliminate Cast Delay and 2425.png Gloomy Day to significantly amplify the damage of the Spiral Pierce skill.

While the Spiral Pierce skill is the core of this build, you're still able to utilise the RK's AoE skills on the side. Notably, you can hybrid this build with Dragon Breath, which makes you a powerful damage dealer both for AoE and single-target, albeit you may need to swap your gears in the heat of battle at times.

Crush Strike

A more solo-oriented PVP build meant for fighting in Battlegrounds and NovaRO's monthly 5v5 Tournament. A Crush Strike enhanced normal attack combined with the guaranteed critical from 61.png Auto Counter along with other damage enhancements will one-shot nearly every build in the game, even those using full defensive gear. Due to the Rhydo Runestone's re-use delay, Crush Strike RKs will act as hit-and-runners, taking out the most troublesome tanking builds and then retreating while waiting for Crush Strike to become usable again. More vulnerable targets can also be killed with 2004.png Hundred Spear and 2006.png Ignition Break when Crush Strike is unavailable.

STR (Strength): Increases Weight Limit and ATK damage. Primarily used in Meele builds, such as Ignition Break, Crush Strike, and Critical builds.

AGI (Agility): An important defensive and offensive stat for most builds, AGI increases Attack Speed (ASPD) and reduces Animation Delay when casting skills and increases resistance against Sleep, Bleeding, and reduces the duration of Shadow Chasers’ Masquerade debuff.

INT (Intelligence): Increases maximum SP and MATK. It is a primary stat in 2008.png Dragon Breath builds to increase damage, and can be used in auto-attack builds that utilize 2001.png Enchant Blade. It also increases resistance against some debuffs, and reduces the duration of some debuffs (e.g. Sleep, Silence, Oblivion Curse).

VIT (Vitality): Increases MaxHP, Soft DEF, and Soft MDEF. Also increases resistance against some debuffs (e.g. Stun, Poison, Burning). Important stat for most Rune Knights to increase their survivability in battle, and increases 2008.png Dragon Breath damage.

DEX (Dexterity): Reduces Variable Cast Time of skills and increases HIT. A low amount is recommended for meele Rune Knights and builds using 2004.png Hundred Spear and 2006.png Ignition Break to ensure hit on enemies. Crit builds do not require HIT as Critical Attacks can not miss. 2008.png Dragon Breath often opt for 120 DEX to take advantage of Temporal DEX boots.

LUK (Luck): Increases Critical Rate and ATK/MATK by a low amount. This stat is primarily used in Critical Auto Attack Builds. LUK also increases resistance against some debuffs and reduces the duration of debuffs (e.g. Frozen, Sleep, Stone Curse, Genetic’s Mandragora Howling).

Has a base 73% ~ 100% chance to provoke a target up to 9 cells away and make it aggressive toward you. The difference between the user's base level and the target's base level will affect the chance of success.

If successful, increase the target's ATK by 5% ~ 32% and decrease their DEF by 10% ~ 55% for 30 seconds. Players do not get their hard DEF lowered. This can interrupt a cast. The target will be freed from Frozen, Stone, Sleep or Play Dead status.

Does not work on boss or Undead race enemies.

Consume 20 ~ 16 HP to hit all enemies in a 5x5 area (9x9 area at Lv10) around you with a physical melee Fire property attack and an increased hit rate bonus of 0.1% ~ 1.0%. Knock back all enemies hit by 2 cells.

Enemies hit will suffer 120% ~ 300% ATK damage. If the enemies hit are players and not within 3x3, they receive 110% ~ 200% ATK damage instead.

Afterwards, gain a +20% Fire property damage bonus for the next 10 seconds.

For 10 ~ 37 seconds or 7 hits, do not play a hit animation when taking damage. Increase the user's hard MDEF by 1 ~ 10.

Enable natural HP regeneration while walking. The rate recovered is 25% as effective as standing natural HP regeneration. Increase HP Recovery does not affect this skill.

For 0.4s ~ 2.0s, prepare a stance. If an enemy attempts a melee attack on you, negate the damage and deal a counter attack. The counter attack has an increased hit rate of +20% and will automatically deal a critical hit. This skill can be combined with Crush Strike. Using Auto Counter while in the counter stance ends the status and inflicts the attack to one random enemy within melee range. The stance ends after countering one attack.

  • Wrist Break: Apply a -25 skill ASPD modifier and decrease ASPD by 25%.
  • Knee Break: Apply a -10 skill ASPD modifier, decrease ASPD by 10%, slows movement speed by 30%.
  • Shoulder Break: Decrease soft DEF by 50%.
  • Waist Break: Decrease base attack by 25%, soft DEF by 25%.
  • Neck Break: Afflict Bleeding status, change damage from Joint Beat to 20% ~ 200%.

Every break effect can stack with each other. Movement speed reductions do not stack with other sources.


Rune Knight

Allow you to craft runes. Higher levels will let you create more types. Success rate when crafting is increased by 2% ~ 20%. Many runes also increase their effectivity depending on Rune Mastery skill level. See Runes for more information.

Gameplay

Runes

Runes are the signature consumable items of the Rune Knight class. They are only received by crafting and cannot be traded, dropped, or sold to NPC. However, they can be placed into storage and guild storage. You can hold up to 60 copies of each type of rune. The exceptions are Turisus, Pertz and Asir, which have no limit.

If you create more copies of a rune than you can hold, you'll instead create enough to hit maximum limit. For example, if you have 59 Lux Anima Runes and you successfully create 3, you'll instead only gain 1 rune to hit the maximum of 60.

The lowest two grades of runestone ores can be bought from the Rune Merchant (@navi prontera 168 229). The prices are non-discountable and he allows buying 2000 at one time.

For 3 minutes, gain the following effects:
  • Increase STR by 30.
  • Add a 15% chance to double the damage of your physical melee attacks, but when this activates, there is a 0.1% chance of your weapon breaking.
  • When Giant Growth is active on a Rune Knight, additionally increase ATK-based physical damage by 250% (125% during PVP). This effect cannot stack with Crush Strike.
Isia Runestone Vitality Activation Support

For 3 minutes, gain the following effects:
  • HP restoration from skills and items is increased by 50%.
  • SP restoration from skills and items is decreased by 50%.
  • Disable natural SP regeneration.

Consume 20% of your current HP. For 3 minutes or when you have received damage greater than the amount of HP paid, gain the following effects:
  • Increase hard DEF and hard MDEF by Job Lv × Rune Mastery Lv ÷ 4
  • When you receive a physical melee attack, 30% chance of the attacker's weapon breaking. If the attacker is a monster, reduce their ATK by 25% for 10 seconds instead. This effect does not work against boss monsters.
Asir Runestone Fighting Spirit Support

For 3 minutes, gain the following effects:
  • Increase your ATK by 70 + 7 × Number of Party Members.
  • Increase your ASPD skill modifier by 0.4 × Rune Mastery Lv

Create shields that absorb any type of damage and lasts for 3 minutes. There is a 20% chance 4 shields are created, 30% chance that 3 shields are created and a 50% chance that 2 shields are created. Each shield has 1000 HP and excess damage does not carry over.

Transfer your most recently cast rune buff to all party members within a 7x7 area around you. You can use this skill repeatedly to transfer more buffs, starting from the most recently cast. The duration of the copied buff is 60 seconds. Eligible buffs include: Millennium Shield, Refresh, Giant Growth, Stone Hard Skin, Vitality Activation, Abundance.
