The Star Emperor is the class upgrade to the Star Gladiator (also known as TaeKwon Master). Their base level cap is increased to 175 and their job level maxes out at 60. Star Emperors fight primarily with melee skills in the form of stances, which unlocks associated skills corresponding to each line. They have rapid area type attacks, can cloak themselves and can power up their skills with a temporary Light buff. They are also capable of resetting the chosen maps and targets of the Perception and Opposition skills, granting them almost free access to the Star Gladiator's skills. In PVP, they can deal immense single target damage or temporarily remove an enemy from the fight with Gravity Control.

Builds

Solar Burst

2592.png Solar Burst is the strongest PVM area damage skill that the Star Emperor has. This build is intended for levelling and farming quickly by increasing the strength of Solar Burst as much as possible so that the Star Emperor can easily destroy mobs of enemies. Combined with a Minstrel's 321.png A Poem of Bragi, Solar Burst can be used extremely rapidly against more tanky enemies such as bosses for strong DPS.

Note that the SP usage of Solar Burst can be extremely heavy. For general farming, leeching gears are almost a necessity, and when using Solar Burst for sustained DPS, a large supply of SP restoring items or a Sorcerer in the party becomes very important. In addition, Solar Burst spamming builds do not synergize well with the Star Gladiator's Wrath skills, which knock back enemies, nor with the Tae Kwon's kicking skills, as you do not trigger kick stances when using skill attacks.

As a melee type build, STR is the primary stat for damage. While the cast time for sun-line skills are all 0, they are also affected by FLEE so DEX becomes important to hit enemies. VIT and AGI are both useful to help survivability. Due to Solar Burst's after skill delay, taking AGI for ASPD is not as important unless you expect to always have a Minstrel on hand. Finally, LUK is a good all-rounder stat but not very important as Solar Burst does not perform critical hits.

Gearing should focus on physical attack damage bonuses. Leeching gear is also a good idea.

ASPD Meteors

2584.png Falling Star has the highest potential single-target DPS of the Star Emperor's PVM skills. This build focuses on rapid fire autoattacks to trigger as many star drops as quickly as possible. You can combine this with the Star Gladiator's Warmth skills (eg, 428.png Warmth of the Sun) against enemies that cannot be knocked back, or when you have enemies pushed up against the wall. In addition, the high ASPD of this build lends itself naturally to the Tae Kwon's kicking skills, so if a player's reactions are good, they can incorporate those into their Star build to further power their attacks.

The drawbacks is the generally single target nature of the build. While falling stars do area damage, the Emperor is still going to be primarily focused on one target at a time. Also, the Star Emperor has to be very efficient with their Star Token management through effective use of 2580.png Flash Kick, which can prove difficult if enemies are not all clustered together. Furthermore, the damage potential of the build drops considerably for boss type monsters that do not have constantly respawning slaves, such as certain instance MVPs. Finally, the melee nature of the build can make it difficult to attack certain bosses safely due to their aggro mechanics of attacking anyone in melee range as opposed to staying only on the party's tank.

Lunar Leveling

Using the 2575.png Stance of the Moon the player is able to do massive damage to mobs in an area while staying invisible after the first Area of Effect attack. Set up by casting 2579.png New Moon Kick then following up with 2576.png Full Moon Kick is a powerful 1-2 combo easily used by new players to the class to hit enemies, turn invisible then knock out while leveling on masses of aggressive monsters. The usual skills and buffs apply to this such as 425.png Warm Wind and the party skill 424.png Khop. This build does not need any attack speed what so ever so if you were having a tough time with other builds for such a reason try this out and focus on power instead. The draw back to this build is that monsters will lose target on you after you go invisible but fortunately you can move while in this state.

PVP Cleaner

2582.png Nova Explosion is a terrifying skill, capable of extremely high damage that cannot be reduced by any effect, including DEF, racial resistance or other percentage based reduction effects. This makes it exceptionally useful against ordinarily tanky enemies who many other damage-type builds would have trouble defeating, such as Shadow Chasers or Steel Body Suras (with Golden Thief Bug Card ). While the cool down and skill reuse penalty of Nova Explosion are heavy, Star Emperors can regularly mitigate those drawbacks using 2586.png Book of Dimensions, allowing them to spam Nova Explosion for a short duration and almost guaranteeing a few kills. Star Emperors are also equipped with 2585.png Gravity Control, a targeted disable spell that can be used to set up Nova Explosion on your target or temporarily remove an enemy's support. With 421.png Flying Side Kick, Star Emperors can very effectively target certain enemies to defeat at extremely high speed.

Note that the Star Emperor, being a primarily melee class, will often have trouble surviving if it is not careful with its distance from the enemy stack. 2579.png New Moon Kick can be used to help escape some bad situations, but ultimately very strong positioning, efficient gear swapping from resistances to offence, and careful enemy targeting is necessary to make best use of the class.

Gameplay

Tae Kwon Kicks

Tae Kwons have 4 pairs of stances and kick skills related to autoattacking. The skills are:

The kicks cannot be used on their own. When a stance is toggled active, auto attacks will gain a chance to proc the stance. During a brief window (roughly 0.5 sec), the user must use the corresponding kick skill.

Note that for that stance window, your character will stop autoattacking. If you do not react with the correct kick quickly enough, your overall DPS may drop as your character continuously pauses for the stance trigger. If you press the wrong kick skill during the stance window, your character will stand still for the rest of the stance trigger's duration, even if you press the correct kick afterwards, so it's important to get the kick correct on the first try.

Sun, Moon, Stars

Star Gladiators have skills focused on the three celestial bodies. The important marking skills are:

  • 427.png Feeling of the Sun, Moon and Stars - designate a map as under the sun, the moon or the stars. You can only designate one map for each. Instance, PVP and Siege maps can be marked.
  • 434.png Hatred of the Sun, Moon and Stars - designate a monster as an enemy of the sun, the moon or the stars. You can only designate one enemy for each. Player classes can be marked with no size or HP restrictions.

These settings have three possible reset options:

Otherwise, Feelings and Hatred persist after death and log outs, and using the Feeling and Hatred skills will fail if there already exists a target designated by the mark attempted.

Miracle of the Sun, Moon and Stars

Whenever a Star Gladiator or Star Emperor attacks, there is a very low probability of triggering a Miracle of the Sun, Moon and Stars. When a Miracle occurs, the screen will dim as if it were night time, or if you were under a Soul Link. All Warmth and Comfort skills become usable, regardless of whether the map was designated correctly or if the day is correct. In addition, all monsters will be recognized as an enemy of the Stars.

The Miracle will last for one hour, or until the map is changed.

Angel of the Sun, Moon and Stars

When a Star Gladiator or Star Emperor is benefiting from increased SP regeneration from 423.png Happy Break and uses the /doridori command, there is a very low probability that an Angel of the Sun, Moon and Stars will descend upon them. When it appears, the Angel will reset all map and monster designations from using the Perception and Opposition skills.

Star Emperor Stances

Star Emperors have multiple stance toggle skills that control what skills they can currently use, along with providing some passive bonuses. The skills are:

Unlike the Tae Kwon's stances, these cannot be overlapped. If a stance is used while another is already active, the current one is dispelled and replaced with the new one. In addition, all stance restricted buffs are immediately cancelled if any are still active (ie, Light skills, New Moon, Falling Star, Book of Dimensions). While Stance of the Universe can use any of the skills, switching to or from the Stance of the Universe will still dispel every stance-restricted status buff.

Also note that while Stance of the Universe gives access to every Light skill, they cannot overlap with each other. If a Light skill is attempted while another type of Light is already active, the existing one is dispelled and replaced with the new one.

Run in a straight line at incredible speed. Using this skill again will cause you to stop. If the skill level is 7 or higher and you have no weapon equipped, if you stop the run before hitting an object, gain Spurt status for 150 seconds which grants STR +10.

Passively increase ATK by 10 per skill level when you have no weapon equipped.

If Tumbling is active, increase the damage based on the user's base level. If Running is active, increase the damage based on the user's base level. If both Running and Spurt statuses are active, Flying Kick deals enhanced damage.

Using /doridori will futher increase SP recovery by 3 and trigger the Happy Break status for 30 minutes. While under Happy Break, using an Earth Spike scroll consumes 10 SP and only has a 10% ~ 1% chance of destroying the scroll.

This skill cannot be used after changing class.

Display the current target monster for the Taekwon Mission. Defeating 100 of the target monster rewards 1 Taekwon Mission point. If the current mission is at 0% completion, the target may change at a very low chance. The target monster will never be a miniboss or MVP. The top 10 Taekwons ranked are able to combo their Tornado Kick, Heel Drop, Roundhouse Kick and Counter Kick skills together. Upon reaching Lv90, a top 10 ranked Taekwon will have triple MaxHP and MaxSP, and all TaeKwon skills are unlocked.

Cause a target to float helplessly in the air for 5 seconds. While floating, the target cannot move or use skills (but they can use items and change equipment), and they cannot be hit by most attacks. When the duration ends, deal Neutral property fall damage altered by the user's ATK and the target's carry weight. If Gravity Control is used on a floating target, the status ends safely.

Grant yourself a buff that lasts for 60 seconds. While the buff is active, if you use either one of the following skills, end the buff and gain the corresponding effect:

  • 2582.png Nova Explosion: For 5 seconds, remove the skill cool down and the skill usage penalty of Nova Explosion.
  • 2581.png Advent of the Star Emperor: Gain 2 defensive spheres that last for 30 seconds and have a durability equal to your MaxSP. All damage received is blocked by the spheres until their durability reaches 0, and excess damage from one attack will not carry over.
